Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Level II Access Control / CCTV / IT Technician to install, program, troubleshoot, and service integrated low-voltage systems for commercial and institutional clients. This role suits a technician with strong low-voltage fundamentals and hands-on experience across access control, video surveillance, and networked IT systems who is ready for more advanced, independent technical work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, terminate, program, and commission access control systems (e.g., Lenel, Software House, Genetec, Kantech, or similar), including panels, readers, locks, and credentials.
  • Install, configure, and commission CCTV/video surveillance systems, including cameras, NVRs/DVRs, VMS software, and network video infrastructure.
  • Design and install structured cabling systems; terminate and test to industry standards (BICSI/TIA-568).
  • Configure and troubleshoot IP networking components supporting security systems, including switches, VLANs, and IP addressing.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex system issues across access control, CCTV, and network infrastructure, on-site and remotely where applicable.
  • Perform system integrations between access control, video, and third-party platforms.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to Field Technicians on site.
  • Interface directly with clients to review system functionality, provide training, and support service calls.
  • Maintain accurate as-built documentation, programming records, and service reports.
  • Support Project Managers with technical scoping, take-offs, and troubleshooting during project execution.
  • Respond to service and emergency support calls as needed, which may include after-hours or on-call coverage.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in low-voltage systems integration, with demonstrated strength in access control, CCTV, structured cabling, and/or IT networking.
  • Strong working knowledge of low-voltage electrical and cabling principles (power-limited circuits, cable types, termination standards).
  • Hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting access control panels and/or CCTV/NVR systems.
  • Solid understanding of IP networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VLANs, switches, basic router/firewall concepts).
  • Ability to read and work from system riser diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently on complex service and installation issues.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Manufacturer certifications in access control and/or CCTV platforms (Lenel, Genetec, Software House, Avigilon, Milestone, Axis, Hikvision, or similar).
  • BICSI Installer/Technician certification.
  • Network certifications (CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or similar).
  • Experience mentoring or leading junior technicians.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work from ladders and lifts, work in attics/crawlspaces/mechanical/electrical rooms, and travel to job sites throughout the service area; occasional after-hours/on-call availability.
