Database Administrator — Journeyman
Start Date: September 1, 2026 - This is a fully funded opportunity.
Clearance: Secret

Position Summary
Nationwide IT Services, NIS, is seeking a Database Administrator (Journeyman) to support a mission-critical federal database environment for a potential opportunity. The DBA will perform daily database operations, monitoring, maintenance, ETL support, SQL query support, data quality validation, interface validation, and Tier 1–2 troubleshooting.  This is a remote opportunity.
Responsibilities
  • Perform daily database operations, monitoring, and routine maintenance.
  • Support Oracle and/or SQL Server database environments.
  • Support daily ETL processes for reporting and data warehouse activities.
  • Develop, run, and troubleshoot SQL queries.
  • Validate data quality and support interface reconciliation.
  • Generate data quality reports and assist with data quality controls.
  • Support SFTP-based data transfer processes.
  • Provide Tier 1–2 help desk support for database, reporting, data, and interface issues.
  • Support MicroStrategy or similar BI/reporting environments.
  • Maintain database documentation and support approved change and release processes.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of relevant database administration experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server.
  • Experience with ETL processes, SQL queries, data validation, and SFTP processes.
  • Knowledge of MicroStrategy or similar business intelligence/reporting tools.
  • Experience supporting production operations, troubleshooting, and help desk tickets.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with technical teams, program staff, and government stakeholders.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal, DoD, or mission-critical systems.
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud, SQL Server data warehouses, Oracle Data Guard, or reporting environments.
  • Familiarity with RMF, ATO, STIGs, CUI/PII protections, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
Clearance Requirement
  • Secret (T3) investigation/clearance required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain required DoD credentials, including CAC access.
