Job description

Summary
Lidl US is looking for a Senior Commercial Finance Analyst to join the team. As a Senior Analyst within our Corporate Finance central strategy and oversight team, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between raw data and strategic decision-making. Operating within the FPA pillar, you will take ownership of specific commercial PnL lines, driving the month-end close process and conducting deep-dive variance analyses to uncover the root causes behind financial performance. From coordinating bi-annual planning cycles to developing rolling forecasts and supporting high-stakes meetings with Merchandising and Marketing leads, you will act as a key analytical engine for the business.
What You'll Do
  • Manage specific commercial PnL lines, ensuring all month-end accruals are accurate and fully aligned with departmental expectations and financial discipline.
  • Lead Plan vs. Actual analysis by investigating the root causes of performance fluctuations; dive into volume, price, and mix drivers to deliver both recurring reports and ad-hoc strategic insights.
  • Coordinate the development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and mid-year forecasts, playing a central role in translating company strategy into actionable financial targets.
  • Maintain and evolve rolling forecast models, updating financial projections monthly to reflect real-time business performance and market trends.
  • Act as a strategic resource for Commercial Business Partners by preparing data-backed evidence and analysis for high-stakes meetings with Merchandising and Marketing leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What You'll Need
  • Exceptional ability to deconstruct complex business challenges into clear, driver-based financial models.
  • Proven track record of identifying trends or anomalies in commercial data and independently investigating root causes.
  • Advanced mastery of productivity suites, including expert-level proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) or Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, Docs).
  • Proficiency in dashboarding software, specifically MicroStrategy or comparable tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP or similar Tier 1 ERP systems.
  • Strong familiarity with retail-specific metrics, including Sales, Margin, Shrinkage, and productivity KPIs.
  • Proficiency in Management Accounting, with a solid understanding of Budget Controlling and the Month-End Financial Close cycle
  • Ability to translate complex analysis and financial findings into clear, actionable insights for non-financial audiences.
  • A zero-error mindset with the discipline to build sanity checks into complex datasets to ensure 100% accuracy before reporting.
Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Mathematics or Business Administration). We value logical thinking and mathematical proficiency above specific degree titles.
  • 2-4 years of progressive experience in FP&A, Commercial Finance, or a similar analytical role.
  • In lieu of a formal degree, 5+ years of relevant professional experience in financial planning and analysis will be considered.
Preferred Skill
  • Proficiency in German language

Physical Job Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
