Microsoft Platforms Engineer

Competitive Range

Tampa, FL • On-site

Full-time

Job description

**Active Secret (minimum); Top Secret/SCI eligibility desired**

Program Overview

CRS is seeking a Microsoft Platforms Engineer to support execution of a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) delivering Enterprise Knowledge Management (EKM) services to a U.S. Combatant Command headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. The BPA supports the Command Headquarters, its Component Commands, and its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), spanning multiple CONUS and OCONUS locations across a broad Area of Responsibility (AOR) and operating across unclassified and classified networks.

This position executes platform engineering services for the program and supports the integration, deployment, and day-to-day system administration of enterprise records and repository systems. The Microsoft Platforms Engineer builds and sustains the SharePoint, M365, and Power Platform capabilities that the KM enterprise runs on.

Position Summary

The Microsoft Platforms Engineer shall configure, deploy, and sustain enterprise KM platforms including MS SharePoint (on-premises and Online), M365 services, and the MS Power Platform, applying the governance patterns, security controls, and DevSecOps practices established for the program.

The individual shall perform day-to-day platform administration and troubleshooting, implement content governance in every configuration, and produce the runbooks and user documentation that keep solutions supportable after handoff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure and sustain enterprise KM platforms - MS SharePoint (on-premises and Online), M365 services, and the MS Power Platform - so they operate as authoritative destinations for creating and capturing actionable knowledge.
  • Apply Command content governance in every configuration: taxonomy, metadata, naming conventions, version control, and content lifecycle rules that meet KM and RM standards.
  • Implement enterprise search, indexing, and navigation improvements, and configure role- or attribute-based access controls consistent with need-to-know and zero-trust principles.
  • Build solutions from approved reusable components and low-code patterns on the Power Platform and M365 rather than one-off configurations, and extend those patterns for Components and TSOCs.
  • Configure decision-support features including dashboards, task trackers, timelines, and workflow views that surface validated, authoritative information for leader decisions.
  • Follow secure development and change-control practices, and support records identification for platform configurations and operational artifacts in line with disposition schedules.
  • Deploy configured solutions into staging and production environments following established change-control procedures, and validate connectivity, authentication, and data-flow integrations after each deployment.
  • Perform day-to-day platform administration including configuration upkeep, health monitoring, permissions oversight, and user account, role, group, and privilege management.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, workflow failures, access problems, and performance anomalies to ensure uninterrupted operations, escalating enterprise-level dependencies as required.
  • Execute scheduled system patches, updates, and upgrades in coordination with the senior engineer to minimize operational disruption.
  • Maintain and optimize content indexing and search capabilities to improve discoverability, accuracy, and retrieval speed.
  • Produce runbooks, configuration guides, integration diagrams, and administrator and user documentation supporting sustainment, troubleshooting, and adoption.
Required Qualifications

The following qualifications are mandatory for this position:

  • Shall be a U.S. citizen and shall possess an active Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience.
  • A minimum of four (4) years administering or engineering Microsoft collaboration platforms, including hands-on SharePoint (on-premises and/or Online) experience.
  • Working proficiency with the M365 suite and the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), including solution configuration and permissions management.
  • Demonstrated experience applying taxonomy, metadata, permissions, and content lifecycle configuration in an enterprise environment.
  • DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., Security+ CE), or the ability to obtain it prior to receiving privileged access.
Desired Qualifications

The following qualifications are strongly desired and will be viewed favorably:

  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Experience supporting a Combatant Command, SOF, or Intelligence Community organization on NIPRNet and SIPRNet.
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-102, PL-200, AZ-104).
  • Experience applying DISA STIGs and supporting vulnerability remediation on SharePoint or M365 workloads.
  • Experience with SharePoint migrations, the term store, and Microsoft Purview or a comparable records platform.
  • Familiarity with MS SQL Server and PowerShell automation for platform administration.
  • Experience supporting geographically dispersed user populations across multiple time zones.
  • Agile or Scrum experience delivering platform work in sprints.
Attributes of a Successful Candidate
  • Careful with permissions and change control in environments where a misconfiguration has real consequences.
  • Documents as they build, so the next engineer is not reverse-engineering the configuration.
  • Responsive and patient with users whose problem is urgent to them.
  • Eager to learn the platform patterns the senior engineer sets, and to improve them.
  • Comfortable working across unclassified and classified networks and adapting to the security constraints each environment imposes.
