Job description

Overview
Customer Experience & AI (CEAI) is focused on delivering reliable, intelligent, and scalable experiences that help Microsoft support customers when they need us most. The organization brings together engineering, data, AI, and operational excellence to improve customer support outcomes, strengthen service resilience, and enable teams across Microsoft to deliver high-quality customer and business impact.
We are seeking for a Software Engineer to join a team building modern full-stack software solutions that support critical customer and business workflows and help integrate, operate, and continuously improve the Customer Support Dialtone/Resiliency capability. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across front-end experiences, back-end services, APIs, data, integrations, cloud platforms, and operational readiness.
In this role, you will design and deliver maintainable software, including the initial build-out of a resilient support-continuity solution. You will also help ensure the capability remains ready through ongoing engineering maintenance, service operations, and cross-Microsoft business continuity and disaster recovery drills. You will collaborate across disciplines and contribute to reliable engineering systems that scale.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain full-stack software solutions across user interfaces, APIs, services, data stores, and integrations
  • Translate product and business requirements into reliable, scalable, secure, and maintainable technical designs and implementation plans
  • Build high-quality code using modern engineering practices, including automated testing, code reviews, source control, CI/CD, observability, and secure development
  • Partner with product managers, designers, engineers, operations teams, and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end customer and business value
  • Troubleshoot defects, investigate service issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement improvements that increase reliability, performance, and supportability
  • Contribute to architecture discussions, technical documentation, operational readiness, and continuous improvement of engineering standards and development processes
  • Learn and apply new technologies, frameworks, and platform capabilities to improve engineering outcomes and accelerate delivery

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or similar languages; OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing, building, testing, and maintaining full-stack applications and services across front-end, APIs, back-end systems, databases, cloud platforms, and integrations
  • Collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and learning agility in ambiguous, cross-functional engineering environments experience.
  • Experience with software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, debugging, testing, source control, and service architecture.
  • Experience with Azure, distributed systems, service reliability, security, performance optimization, telemetry, monitoring, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development, copilots, machine learning services, prompt engineering, responsible AI, and demonstrated collaboration and problem-solving in cross-functional environments.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
