Job description

Position Purpose

The BI Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, and semantic models that support business decision-making. This role focuses on delivering accurate, well-designed analytics solutions using established data models, standards, and best practices. The BI Developer works closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into reporting solutions aligned with defined data models and architecture.


Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

Power BI: Develop and maintain semantic models, reports, and dashboards based on defined data models and business requirements.


Dashboard & Report Design: Build analytical reports and dashboards to present KPIs and business insights, ensuring usability and alignment with stakeholder needs.


CI/CD: Utilize Git-integrated workflows within Microsoft Fabric that version control, CI/CD, and automated testing processes.


Performance & Optimization: Apply established best practices to ensure efficient report performance, including basic DAX optimization and report design techniques.


Data Governance, Quality & Security: Follow data governance, quality, and security standards across platforms in compliance with applicable regulations and best practices.


Collaboration: Partner with analysts, developers, and business users to gather requirements and deliver reporting solutions. Escalate complex design or performance challenges to senior team members as needed.


Documentation: Maintain clear documentation for reports, dashboards, and measure definitions to support maintainability and knowledge sharing.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements (Essential Skills, Knowledge & Abilities)

Bachelor’s degree in information systems, business analytics, finance, accounting, or related business field.

2+ years of experience in a BI or a Data Analyst role, with a focus on cloud-based solutions, star schema data models, and building reports from the ground up.

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Proficiency in SQL and working knowledge of DAX.

Experience building reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.

Familiarity with Data Warehousing concepts (e.g. star schema data modeling)

Effective communication and presentation skills to convey data insights effectively.

Understanding of business processes and key performance metrics.

Experience working with ERP and/or CRM systems; Salesforce preferred.

Experience in a production/manufacturing environment a plus.
