Role Overview
The Senior IT Engineer - Endpoint Experience is a hands-on senior engineering role responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving Valmont's enterprise endpoint management platforms.
This position owns the end-to-end device lifecycle across Windows, macOS, and mobile environments-including provisioning, compliance, patching strategy, automation, and performance optimization-using Microsoft Intune and Tanium.
You will operate as a platform owner, driving measurable improvements in device health, security posture, and end-user experience at scale across a global environment.

Essential Functions:
  • This position reports to the IT Manager, User Experience, and has no direct or indirect reports.
  • Potential travel requirements, both domestic and international, including overnight stays.
  • Willingness to comply with international travel regulations and requirements, including immunizations, in the case of international travel.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, service desk, and business teams to ensure stable, secure, and reliable end-user computing services that support business objectives and operational needs.
  • Lead the design, deployment, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of desktop engineering standards, endpoint management processes, and automation that align with enterprise policies, security requirements, and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain functional documentation that detail standard operating procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and solutions.
  • Serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) to internal teams and external solution providers to evaluate, design, and implement endpoint management capabilities that improve security, standardization, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Major Incident Management Responses to Business Impacting Events and summarize, report, and implement process improvements.
  • Advise, implement, and execute all activities related to continual service improvement processes.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the User Experience team.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand end-user computing requirements, prioritize service improvements, and align endpoint capabilities with business needs.
  • Develop and deliver reporting on endpoint compliance, device health, deployment status, and service performance to support operational decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Administer and optimize endpoint management platforms, including Microsoft Intune and Tanium, to provide real-time visibility, patching, software deployment, configuration enforcement, compliance reporting, and proactive remediation across the device estate.
  • Responsible for properly tracking and documenting all system problems, changes, and problem resolutions using the company's ITSM system.

  • Foster strong cross-functional partnership with Infrastructure, Security, IT Operations, and Business teams to support consistent, secure, and scalable endpoint services.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for endpoint standards, deployment processes, software packages, support procedures, and platform changes.

  • Maintains a degree of self-directed activity.
  • Deliver expert desktop engineering and endpoint management support for Windows, macOS, and mobile devices, including provisioning, configuration baselines, patching, software packaging, performance troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
  • Engineer and maintain modern desktop management capabilities, including operating system deployment, software packaging, policy configuration, automation, and endpoint standards across the enterprise.
  • Manage device compliance, security baselines, application deployment, remote actions, and endpoint policy enforcement through Microsoft Intune and Tanium.
  • Monitor endpoint health, deployment status, patch compliance, and user experience trends; develop reporting and proactive remediation actions to improve desktop stability and service quality.
  • Provide advanced support for endpoint incidents and service requests involving operating systems, device configuration, software deployment, patching, and management platform health.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on endpoint strategy, desktop standards, security controls, and best practices that improve the user computing experience.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge articles, support documentation, and technical guidance to improve service consistency and enable effective support across the endpoint environment.

Required Qualifications for Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
  • Preferred Bachelor's in relevant field with 6+ years relevant experience or Associate's Degree with 8+ years relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of desktop engineering and desktop management practices across Windows, macOS, and mobile platforms, including device provisioning, configuration management, patching, software deployment, and endpoint security.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Intune and Tanium for endpoint administration, policy enforcement, asset visibility, compliance management, patching, and remote remediation.
  • Experience supporting enterprise endpoint engineering tools, operating system management, software deployment, and modern device administration in a distributed environment.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive, high-pressure situations with discretion and professionalism.
  • Exceptional communication (both written and oral), problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Willingness to provide after-hours support for endpoint maintenance, critical incidents, change activity, and platform updates as needed.

  • Advanced technical skills, including experience with modern endpoint management, desktop automation, and enterprise tooling such as Microsoft Intune, Tanium, and IT service management platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive adoption of endpoint standards, platform changes, and service improvements across the organization.
