Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) is seeking an experienced Civil Designer to join our Digital Delivery and Rail & Transit Systems Production team. In this role, you will support our rapidly expanding Infrastructure Design Department, which delivers innovative solutions across roadways, drainage, utility, structural, geotechnical, and rail disciplines. As part of a multifaceted, leading edge engineering division, you will contribute to best in class design efforts that support design build infrastructure projects nationwide.

Location

This position will be based out of Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers Lone Tree, CO (South Denver) office.

Responsibilities

The candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary design team responsible for delivering engineering assignments that support heavy civil construction across Kiewit Construction Companies' transit and rail business. This includes passenger, freight, and industrial rail, as well as site civil, roadway, drainage, and utility design. Responsibilities include preparing design plans, technical reports, and other supporting documentation for a wide range of infrastructure projects. Key responsibilities include the following:

  • In office work primarily.
  • Work with engineering teams in developing preliminary and final design plans and details.
  • Participate in design reviews to evaluate design concepts and make recommendations.
  • Use MicroStation, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Open Rail/Open Roads Designer, Civil3D, and other civil engineering design software.
  • Produce documents with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Follow various Transit Agency, Railroad, and DOT Standards and work with companies' CAD Standards when applicable.
  • Development of engineering plans, profiles, specifications and estimates for transportation projects.
  • May assist in co-leading 1-2 designers on various tasks and projects.
  • Participate and assist with the development of team software training materials.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in computer-aided design, 3D modeling, drafting, survey or similar program experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in computer-aided design, modeling or drafting field or experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation (2D & 3D).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Civil 3D, Bentley Inroads, Bentley Open Rail/Open Roads Designer.
  • Experience with other 3D modeling tools, such as Revit, Rhinoceros 3D, and Navisworks, is an advantage.
  • General knowledge of engineering principles and materials for civil engineering work.
  • Ability to comprehend civil engineering drawings.
  • Capable of recognizing discrepancies with strong attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking skills are necessary with the ability to plan and conceptualize.
  • The ability to clearly communicate and collaborate with team members.
  • Experience working with AI agents and tools preferred.

Base Compensation: 62,000/yr - $76,000/yr
