Job description

Aptyx is seeking a highly skilled IT Project Engineer to support and lead infrastructure and
security projects across the organization. This role will be responsible for planning,
designing, and implementing IT projects. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on
technical expertise, excellent project execution skills, and the ability to collaborate with
internal teams and external vendors.
This role is critical to increasing internal ownership, consistency, and institutional
knowledge across our IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Engineering
  • Lead and execute IT infrastructure, cloud, security, and application projects from

design through completion
  • Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, secure technical

solutions
  • Own project timelines, deliverables, risks, and dependencies in coordination with IT

leadership
  • Provide hands-on engineering support for implementations, migrations, upgrades,

and remediations
Technical Scope
  • Microsoft 365 (Entra ID / Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy
  • Endpoint management (Intune, MDM/MAM, device hardening)
  • Network technologies (firewalls, switches, VPNs, Wi-Fi)
  • Security tools and controls (MFA, EDR, SOC integrations, vulnerability remediation)
  • Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions

Vendor & MSP Coordination
  • Work alongside our MSP in a co-managed IT model
  • Take ownership of internal project execution previously handled by MSP project

resources
  • Review MSP designs, validate recommendations, and ensure alignment with

internal standards
  • Act as a technical escalation point for complex issues and projects

Documentation & Standards
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and runbooks
  • Help define and enforce IT standards, architectures, and best practices
  • Ensure projects meet security, compliance, and operational requirements

Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and constraints
  • Provide clear project status updates to IT leadership
  • Mentor junior IT staff as appropriate

Required Qualifications (Project Engineer)
  • 5+ years of hands-on IT infrastructure or systems engineering experience
  • Proven experience leading large-scale or cross-functional IT initiatives
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft enterprise environments
  • Advanced knowledge of security architecture, networking and cloud services
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience designing solutions, not just implementing them
  • Strong vendor management and technical leadership skills

Preferred Certifications (Not Required)
  • Microsoft (Azure, M365, Security)
  • Cisco, SonicWALL, or other networking certifications
  • Security certifications (Security+, CISSP, etc.)
  • ITIL or project management certifications
