Rochester, New York

Insero Talent Solutions is partnering with a well-established, community-focused organization on the recruitment of a Business & Operations Manager.

The Business & Operations Manager will provide hands-on leadership across the organization's day-to-day business operations, ensuring administrative functions, facilities, finances, staffing, and organizational initiatives are managed efficiently and effectively. This individual will partner closely with the Board of Directors to execute strategic priorities, strengthen internal processes, and ensure the organization has the operational infrastructure needed to support its continued success and growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a well-rounded operations professional who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes, leading people, and working across multiple areas of an organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the organization's day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient execution across administrative, financial, facility, staffing, and operational functions.
  • Partner closely with the Board of Directors to implement strategic initiatives, policies, and organizational priorities.
  • Support the development and management of the annual operating budget; monitor financial performance and oversee billing, collections, purchasing, expense tracking, and other financial processes.
  • Oversee facility operations, including scheduling, rentals, maintenance, vendor relationships, and coordination of facility needs and improvements.
  • Supervise and support employees, contractors, and volunteers, including hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and ongoing team development.
  • Evaluate existing processes, systems, and workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, communication, accountability, and overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Partner with internal leadership to ensure programs, events, and organizational initiatives are properly supported from an operational perspective.
  • Maintain a regular on-site presence and serve as a visible, accessible leader for employees and organizational stakeholders.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for members, families, vendors, community partners, and other stakeholders, providing responsive and professional service and addressing issues as appropriate.
  • Oversee organizational communications, including member communications, website updates, and other external-facing information.
  • Identify and support opportunities to strengthen revenue generation, including sponsorships, partnerships, fundraising initiatives, and facility rentals.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, organizational policies, and governing requirements.
  • Prepare and provide regular operational and financial updates to the Board of Directors, including recommendations related to organizational needs, efficiencies, and improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Organizational Leadership, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in operations, business management, organizational leadership, or a comparable management role.
  • Experience overseeing multiple areas of an organization, with the ability to effectively balance competing priorities and shifting operational needs.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, monitoring expenses, and supporting financial processes and reporting.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people-management skills, including experience supervising employees, contractors, and/or volunteers.
  • Strong organizational, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to evaluate processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement practical operational improvements.
  • Comfortable operating at both the strategic and tactical levels, with a willingness to be hands-on and take ownership of day-to-day needs.
  • Experience with facilities, vendor management, customer/member service, events, or other operational functions is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and/or similar business systems; experience with CRM, registration, or membership management platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, based on organizational needs.
  • Experience within a nonprofit, community-based, membership, hospitality, recreation, or service-oriented organization is a plus.
