Job Summary

The Managed Services Engineer – Azure is responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting a broad range of enterprise solutions in Microsoft Azure, with a primary focus on Azure infrastructure and storage services. This includes, but is not limited to, Qumulo file storage, native Azure Storage services, Windows and Linux servers, Azure-native monitoring, Tanium patching, load balancers, Zerto disaster recovery replication, and Rubrik backups.

This role partners closely with customers and internal teams to ensure Azure platforms are secure, performant, scalable, and cost-effective. The ideal candidate brings strong Azure engineering expertise, operational discipline, a customer-first mindset, and a passion for continuous improvement and automation.

Role Description

  • Design, deploy, and support Azure infrastructure, including Qumulo file storage clusters, Azure Files, Blob Storage, Managed Disks, and Virtual Machines
  • Administer and manage Windows and Linux servers in Azure, including patching using Tanium
  • Administer Azure-native monitoring tools, including Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, and implement monitoring, alerting, and reporting across Azure environments
  • Manage and support Azure load balancers, with general familiarity of Azure networking concepts as needed (core networking supported by a dedicated network engineer)
  • Manage and support Zerto disaster recovery replication and Rubrik backup solutions in Azure
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve performance, capacity, and availability issues across supported Azure platforms and services
  • Optimize Azure environments for performance, resiliency, security, and cost efficiency
  • Lead and contribute to managed services projects and service improvement initiatives across Azure infrastructure
  • Engage directly with customers through meetings, incidents, change requests, and project delivery, ensuring alignment with customer needs and success criteria
  • Develop, maintain, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Azure operations
  • Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation initiatives to enable repeatable and scalable deployments
  • Perform automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python, and/or Azure CLI
  • Track time and document work accurately in SHI systems
  • Participate in audits, compliance activities, and a rotating on-call schedule

Skill Level Requirements

  • Hands-on experience supporting production Azure environments, including compute, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring
  • Experience supporting Qumulo file storage deployed in Azure
  • Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Azure Backup
  • Experience with Tanium patching for Windows and Linux servers
  • Experience managing load balancers in Azure
  • Experience supporting Zerto disaster recovery replication and Rubrik backup solutions
  • Automation and scripting experience using PowerShell, Python, and/or Azure CLI
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, and SMB/NFS permissions and access control
  • Experience using version control systems such as Git or Azure DevOps

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in a managed services or Azure‐focused engineering role
  • Ability to work occasional overtime or holidays as business needs require participation in a rotating on-call schedule
  • Must maintain utilization targets set by leadership
  • Must successfully pass a CJIS Background Check upon Hire and annually thereafter

Certifications

  • Microsoft Azure Associate‐level certification (AZ‐104 or equivalent), or ability to obtain within 3 months
  • ITIL v3+ certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience supporting large-scale or performance-sensitive file workloads in Azure
  • Familiarity with IT Glue, Autotask, Datto RMM, and documentation tools
  • Experience supporting regulated environments (e.g., CJIS, FERPA)

The estimated annual pay range for this position is $125,000 - $155,000 which includes a base salary and bonus/commissions. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
