THE ROLE:
Our team is currently seeking a Test Engineering Technician for our lab developing new, cutting-edge GPU technology who can drive the local execution of standardized workflows. You will work closely with cross-functional teams within the Services and Engineering organizations.
THE PERSON:
You bring a wide range of abilities and skills to the table, including semiconductor chip technology knowledge and strong experience in a lab environment. Your approach is collaborative and you shine in teamwork, relationship building, and supporting diverse internal customers across organizations and functions working both independently and within a team.
You balance strong technical skills including server hardware, racks, IT, cabling management, X-ray scopes, and work at the component level with strong interpersonal and communications skills. You are known as analytical and highly attentive to detail, self-motivated and as a positive, humble 'results driven' team player.
You are committed to meeting deadlines, and bring enthusiasm to fast-paced, multi-project situations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage server upgrades, repairs, automated OS provisioning process, and rebuild projects as required, often working with Services and Engineering teams.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain various server and coolant platforms.
  • Performs diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures.
  • Follow procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate AMD Leadership
  • Reliability Testing, including setting up and executing a variety of environmental and mechanical stress tests according to defined protocols (shock and vibration, EMCI, Temp Cycling and more)
  • Foster a positive team environment by sharing information, participating in meetings, asking questions, and staying informed on team updates.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, safely climb ladders, wear personal protective and ESD gear correctly, and stand and walk throughout the facility for extended periods without loss or reduction of productivity.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous hands on experience testing and troubleshooting semiconductor GPUs, switches, and CPUs in a data center lab environment.
  • Previous experience with leading Technicians
  • Experience with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Pivot Tables
  • Demonstrated effective and collaborative communication and teamwork experience.
  • Experience and ability to work autonomously or collaboratively within a team environment to support Lab teams, Engineering, and Services
  • Surface Mount Technology (SMT) soldering and repair on multilayer PCBs
  • Inspection of solder joints using microscopy and X-ray microscopes
  • Work with lab tools (e.g.: diagnostics, tests, and standard semiconductor industry hardware and software)
  • Experience with Windows Server OS
  • Experience with Linux PXE services a plus
  • High attention to detail, and commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Associate degree in computer science, computer engineering, Information technology or equivalent experience preferred.
  • CompTIA A+ or equivalent experience.
  • CompTIA Server+ or equivalent experience.
  • Windows OS experience.
  • MCP/MSCE certification preferred.
  • Scripting experience preferred - PowerShell, Python, Bash.

Location: Secaucus, NJ
Hours: M-F from 2:30pm - 11:00pm ET.
