About the Team
You will be an integral part of the global integrated team within Electronic Solutions at Rheinmetall Defence to manage the program execution of the LAND 400 Phase 2 Contract with the Commonwealth of Australia.
About the Role
The Senior Production Technician builds, aligns, tests and releases complex electronic, optical and electromechanical assemblies on the production area. You set the technical standard at the working level, remove constraints quickly, and work with Production Engineering, Quality, Planning and Materials to protect takt, throughput, first pass yield and delivery.
  • Execute builds to standard work, cycle time and takt. Maintain WIP discipline and on-time completions against the plan.
  • Confirm people, parts, tools, test equipment and documentation are available before start.
  • Perform precision assembly and optical alignment, microscope work and torque-controlled builds.
  • Run in-process and final tests. Use oscilloscopes, ATS, optical benches and spectrometers.
  • Diagnose and fix faults in analogue and digital circuits and in opto-mechanical mechanisms. Verify fixes with controlled retests.
  • Own production availability reporting at working level. Publish daily status, highlight material or equipment constraints and drive actions to clear them.
  • Conduct containments, retests and controlled trials to protect the schedule and customer deliveries.
  • Complete SAP confirmations and basic goods movements accurately and on time. Maintain data integrity for traceability.
  • Keep work and test instructions current. Provide Feedback to Engineering.
  • ESD compliance, visual management and safe work practices. Support WHS actions on the shop floor.
  • Mentor and coach technicians. Support skills matrices, on-the-job training and IPC or product certifications.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
  • Certificate IV or higher in Electronics, Avionics, Mechatronics, Precision Mechanics or Optics, or equivalent.
  • Five or more years of hands-on experience in electronics or optics production, including microscope assembly and precision alignment.
  • Strong fault-finding in analogue and digital electronics and in opto-mechanical systems. Confident use of electrical and optical test equipment.
  • SAP or similar ERP experience for confirmations, rework orders, goods movements and data lookups.
  • Working knowledge of IPC standards and basic quality tools such as 8D, 5-Why, PFMEA, control plans and SPC.
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
