Job description

We are seeking a Soldering Technician to become an integral part of our Acorn Assembly team! You will perform hand soldering and light assembly on printed circuit boards.


Responsibilities:

  • Solder, assemble and repair electronic assemblies utilizing IPC J-STD-001 skills.
  • Perform a range of soldering from fine pitch surface mount to light gauge wiring.
  • Conduct quality inspections on products and parts
  • Mount assembled components, transistors, resistors, capacitors and other electronic parts on panels
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area

Qualifications:

  • IPC J-STD-001 certification or equivalent hands-on experience with industry-standard soldering practices
  • Demonstrated proficiency in soldering mixed-technology electronic assemblies, including fine pitch surface mount technology (SMT) and light gauge wiring
  • Experience with through-hole and surface mount component soldering, rework, and repair
  • Ability to work under magnification using a stereo microscope for extended periods
  • Familiarity with PCB assembly processes and electronic component handling
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and assembly documentation
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high degree of precision and consistency
  • Experience with basic hand tools and soldering equipment (soldering irons, hot air rework stations, etc.)
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • IPC J-STD-001 CIS (Certified IPC Specialist)
  • Experience with IPC-A-610 inspection standards
  • Prior experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (aerospace, medical, or defense)
  • Familiarity with ESD (electrostatic discharge) handling procedures and protocols
  • Ability to handle both standing or sitting for periods


Follow all Safety and Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) policies, additional training as required by Manufacturing Manager
