How much do microelectronics assembler jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 19, 2026, the average hourly pay for microelectronics assembler in the United States is $17.84, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $16.83 and $18.99 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some common challenges faced by Microelectronics Assemblers and how can they be addressed?

Microelectronics Assemblers often work with extremely small components and sensitive equipment, which requires a high level of precision, steady hands, and excellent attention to detail. Common challenges include managing eye strain from prolonged focus on tiny parts, maintaining quality under time constraints, and adapting to rapidly changing technology or assembly processes. To address these, assemblers can take regular breaks to reduce fatigue, participate in training to stay updated on new equipment, and consistently follow quality control procedures to minimize errors. Collaborating effectively with engineers and technicians also helps in troubleshooting and improving assembly methods.

What is the difference between Microelectronics Assembler vs Electronics Assembler?

AspectMicroelectronics AssemblerElectronics Assembler
CredentialsHigh school diploma or equivalent; some roles may require technical certificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical training optional
Work EnvironmentCleanrooms, precision assembly of tiny componentsManufacturing floors, assembly of larger electronic devices
Industry UsageSemiconductor, microchip manufacturingConsumer electronics, appliances, general electronic products
Work TasksAssembling micro-scale electronic components, soldering tiny partsAssembling circuit boards, wiring, and larger electronic assemblies

Microelectronics Assemblers focus on tiny, high-precision components in cleanroom environments, often requiring specialized certifications. Electronics Assemblers work on larger devices in general manufacturing settings. Both roles involve assembly skills but differ in complexity, environment, and industry focus.

What are Microelectronics Assemblers?

Microelectronics Assemblers are skilled technicians who build and assemble tiny electronic components and devices, such as microchips and circuit boards, often in cleanroom environments. They work with miniature parts using specialized tools, microscopes, and precision techniques to ensure each component meets strict quality standards. Their work is essential in industries like aerospace, medical devices, telecommunications, and consumer electronics, where reliable and compact electronic assemblies are crucial.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Microelectronics Assembler, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Microelectronics Assembler, you need excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and a high school diploma or equivalent, often supplemented by technical training in electronics assembly. Familiarity with microscopes, soldering equipment, wire bonding tools, and cleanroom protocols is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and the ability to follow precise instructions make candidates stand out in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial to ensure the production of high-quality, reliable microelectronic components used in advanced technology applications.
