Status: Full-Time
Reports To: New Product Dev Manager
Position Summary:
Medeco Security Locks is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the New Product Development Team. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional responsible for all electrical design functions to support our rapidly expanding electronic security product lines.This position is on-site at our offices in Salem, VA.
Essential Functions:
  • Hardware and firmware design for microcontroller-based products.
  • Create/complete electrical component and system-level designs.
  • Create/complete Bills-of-Materials (BOM's), technical documentation to support electrical designs.
  • Successfully transition new products from concept into production through support, training, and cross-departmental communications.
  • Manage, participate in and lead development teams developing early prototypes with potential customers.
  • Create technical design specifications and test plan requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years work experience - New product development background preferred.
  • Hardware design experience with digital and analog circuits.
  • Experience in design of wireless RF communications.
  • Experience in PCB design, layout and assembly preferably using Altium software.
  • Ambition, energy, and drive to continuously improve processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel approximately 10%

The Ideal Candidate will have:
  • Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with battery power optimization, low power electro-mechanical actuators, micro-motors, solenoids.
  • Circuit design and imbedded code development utilizing MicroChip PIC, ATMEL, ARM, microcontrollers.
  • A working knowledge of .NET, TCP/IP, Ethernet, communication protocols.
  • Experience in manufacturing and testing. (HALT, Standards, etc.)
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong team player with excellent time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer-facing communication skills.
  • Innovative, motivated, and process-oriented professional
