Microbiology Laboratory Technician
Kelly Science  has an opening for a Microbiological Laboratory Technician for a long-term engagement at one of our Global consumer products clients in  Summit NJ  The role is eligible for medical benefits, paid time off including vacation (PTO), and holidays, 401K, and annual performance reviews. Microbiology Lab Technician will support BSL-2 microbiological research, with responsibilities in experiment execution, and laboratory equipment and supplies management.
Shift Monday through Friday- day shift
Required to supply your own laptop
Pay $24-26 an hour
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in executing experiments following established protocols.
  • Manage laboratory equipment, including scheduling maintenance and repair services.
  • Interact with external suppliers to request quotes and create purchase orders.
  • Maintain supplies inventory by monitoring stock levels and anticipating needs based on scheduled experiments.
  • Place and expedite orders for supplies and verify their receipt.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot benchtop lab equipment such as balances, pH meters, and incubators.
  • Perform basic microbiological lab activities, including serial dilution, plating, and preparing agar plates and glassware.
  • Document procedures in laboratory notebooks as per work instructions.
  • Required Skills and Experience:
  • Good aseptic technique.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Experience in calibrating and troubleshooting lab equipment, including balances, pH meters, and media prep instruments.
  • Proficiency in preparing laboratory reagents and maintaining culture collections.
  • Experience in basic microbiological activities:
  • Preparing agar plates and media
  • Serial dilution and plating
  • Colony counting and biohazard waste management.
Qualifications:
  • 1 to 2 years of industrial experience in a laboratory setting
  • Education BS preferred 
  • Good communication and organizational skills in a team-based environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with pipetting, diluting, and plating is beneficial
