Location: Research Triangle Park, NC, 27709

Duration: 6 Months       

Job Type: Contract

Job Description:      

  • The disease trait discovery team at RTP is looking for a candidate with suitable experience to join our team as Lab Assistant. 
  • Team members typically spend their time collecting plant tissue and plant phenotypic data in the greenhouse, as well as maintaining plant pathogen cultures and conducting experiments in the lab. 
  • Willingness to work in a greenhouse environment is key, as well as comfort working in a lab setting. 
  • Understandably, a candidate may not have extensive experience in all the above, however a curious and ready to learn candidate will also be considered.

Requirements:

  • Teamwork oriented work ethic.
  • The ability to carry out all tasks in the above description.

Preferred skills/experience:

  • Microbiology, particularly sterile culture of fungi and bacteria.
  • Wet lab skills including PCR/gel electrophoresis, bacterial transformation, and leaf infiltration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Completed or soon to be complete bachelor level degree in biology, horticulture, or a related field.
