Associate Microbiologist โ€” 2nd & 3rd Shifts- Lynchburg VA


Shifts Available:

  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM โ€“ 11:30 PM
  • 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM โ€“ 7:30 AM


Position Summary

The Associate Microbiologist is responsible for assuring the microbiological quality of raw materials, bulk products, finished products, and stability samples by conducting, coordinating, documenting, and reporting microbiological testing in compliance with established standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. This position will also perform microbiological testing on developmental R&D samples and support quality, validation, and laboratory operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform compendial and in-house microbiological testing according to established standards, specifications, and procedures.
  • Conduct microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, stability samples, and developmental R&D samples.
  • Support microbiological projects related to raw materials, outside vendors, stability programs, validation studies, and manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in equipment monitoring, maintenance, calibration, and the proper use and control of laboratory organisms. Detect, investigate, document, and follow up on microbiological quality issues.
  • Perform the microbiological aspects of validation protocols, including sanitation and new equipment validations. Assist with microbiological training, technical support, and subject matter expertise for R&D and Production.


Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree (BS) in a scientific discipline; Biology or Microbiology preferred, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality laboratory work.
  • Experience with microbiological testing in a regulated laboratory environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP and applicable regulatory requirements preferred.
