Job description

Automated Chemistry Technician โ€“ Automated Chemistry โ€“ Laboratory Operationsย 
Location:ย Indianapolis, INย 

We are seeking a self-motivatedย Full-Time Automatedย Chemistry Lab Technicianย to join our Laboratory Operations team. In this role, you willย assistย withย analysis of biological specimens including urine andย oral fluid (saliva). This position is also responsible for operating,ย maintaining, and troubleshooting automated chemistry instrumentation.ย 

Shift:ย M-F 4:30pm - 12:30amย 
Pay Rate:ย $20.00 per hourย 
Shift Differential:ย Additional $2.00/hour for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AMย 

Primary Responsibilitiesย 

  • Load specimens using automated chemistry instrumentationย 
  • Assistย with instrument calibration, quality control (QC) review, and initial analytical reviewย 
  • Documenting all preparations toย fulfillย compliance requirementsย 
  • Prepare and restock reagents and buffers as neededย 
  • Perform routine operations including start of the day equipment initiation,ย verification of calibrations controls,ย reagentsย and reagent levelsย 
  • Assistย withย maintainingย adequate inventory of laboratory suppliesย 
  • Review testย resultsย for release. Documents discrepancies,ย exceptionsย and unusual trends. Researches and rectifies errorsย 
  • Maintainย accurateย records associated with specimen preparation, including proper chain of custody handling and storage requirementsย 
  • Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and decontamination proceduresย 
  • Maintainย strict safeguards related to Protected Health Information (PHI)ย 

Qualificationsย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a science-related fieldย requiredย (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biomedical/Pre-Med)ย 
  • Laboratory experience preferred
  • Data entry skills (alpha and numeric keyboarding)ย requiredย 
  • Strong hand-eye coordinationย requiredย 
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment whileย maintainingย a high levelย of quality and accuracyย requiredย 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods,ย lift upย to 25ย lbs, bend, and carry as neededย
