Job description

James Scott, LLC is seeking an experienced Biophysics Specialist to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) to one of its critical customers. The selected candidate will support the customer’s program manager by engaging in and leading activities in project management, technical risk assessment and analysis, and supported test coordination, advance high-impact R&D programs, and communicate and collaborate closely with the PM to drive the desired execution of breakthrough science programs. Candidate shall also be responsible for preparing meetings, evaluate the performers technical progress, and ensure that project management best practices are followed by teams, and independent verification and validation entities financially funded by the customer. Candidate interest and knowledge should include one or multiple areas such as bioMEMs integration with microsystems, mixed signal ASIC design, signal processing, and DNA/RNA sequencing. Candidate should have experience with chips that are used for bio-based physics and the ability to read electrical engineering schematics and plans. Required Skills:
• Ph. D. in Biophysics or a master’s degree with relevant experience
• Industry experience preferred with strong commercialization background or a post doc project with commercialization
• Experience in one or more of the following: mixed-signal ASIC design, BioMEMs integration with microsystems, back-end-of-line micro/nanofabrication, signal processing, DNA/RNA sequencing
• Active DoD Top Secret security clearance Desired:
• Skills in first-principles analysis and/or biophysics
• Experience in Mixed signal ASICs, BioMEMs, Micro/Nanofabrication, Signal processing, Material Science or DNA/RNA sequencing
• Strong attention to detail, and superb verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar areas needed to broadly support the PM’s portfolio spanning multiple domains of optics and electronics
• Self-starter who is willing to both take the lead and provide support in a team role in a complex, fast-paced, cross-disciplinary work environment
