Job description

Job Title: Manual Machinist, Tool Maker
Department: Direct Labor
Reports To: Machining Manager
Job Description:
This hands-on role involves producing precision components, tooling, prototypes, and production parts using a variety of manual and CNC machines. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced with a wide range of shop equipment, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where quality and craftsmanship are valued.
Responsibilities:
  • Good organizational, work planning and documentation skills
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes

  • Proficient in the use of calipers, micrometers, and visual comparators to evaluate critical drawing dimensions
  • Operate common machine shop equipment including manual lathes, Proto TRAK CNC Milling Machines, Proto TRAK CNC Turning Machines, horizontal, and vertical band saws
  • Operate your machines to grind, cut, and polish the materials
  • Finish projects using manual tools
  • Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure they remain in good working order

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience
  • Machinist vocational certificate or completed industry apprenticeship
  • Manual dexterity and high attention to detail
  • Lathe machining experience
  • Quality mindset with
  • Blueprinting reading skills and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

Physical and Mental Efforts:
General: Extensive mobility required, some moderate to heavy lifting. Position requires ability to lift objects weighing more than 50 pounds occasionally; walking and standing for long durations; see objects closely; and hear normal sounds with some background noises. Position requires ability to concentrate with some interruption and attend to tasks for 45 to 60 minutes at a time.
Environmental and Working Conditions:
