Illumination Health + Home is a growing non-profit organization dedicated towards disrupting the cycle of homelessness by providing targeted, interdisciplinary services in our recuperative care centers, emergency shelters, housing services and children's and family programs. IH+H currently has 13+ facilities with 22+ micro-communities scattered across Orange County, Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire.
Job Description
The Site Attendant plays a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment for clients. This position is responsible for enforcing facility rules, assisting with client needs, and ensuring the overall cleanliness and safety of the site. Duties include regular sanitation of high-touch areas, general cleaning of the facility, and following health and safety protocols. The Site Attendant also supports client intakes and discharges, performs routine room checks, and responds to immediate client or facility concerns. By maintaining high standards of cleanliness and care, the Site Attendant helps promote the health, safety, and well-being of all residents. This position operates in a high-level, fast-paced, and high-stress environment that requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, make critical decisions under pressure, and maintain professionalism at all times.
The starting pay rate for this position is $21.00 per hour. This position is also eligible for $1.00 swing shift differential and $2.00 graveyard shift differential. The schedule for this role is Friday - Tuesday 7:00AM to 3:30PM. Workdays may vary.
Responsibilities
Client Care & Support
  • Assist with client intakes and outtakes by preparing client bed area and ensuring bedding and surrounding areas are clean and ready prior to client arrival. Enforce client site rules and policies during admission and discharge.
  • Conduct routine wellness checks and facility walk-throughs (minimum of every 2 hours) to monitor client safety, behavior, and overall welfare. Intervene using de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques as necessary.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled searches of client belongings to ensure compliance with site rules and to prevent prohibited items from entering the facility.
  • Pick up client medications from pharmacies and assist with client move-outs, including the packing of belongings and final room sanitation.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by leadership to support client care and facility operations.

Meal Preparation & Food Safety
  • Prepare and serve balanced meals to clients in accordance with food safety standards (e.g., proper food storage, temperature control, hand hygiene, and cross-contamination prevention).
  • Sanitize all kitchen surfaces and equipment before and after every meal service, including countertops, prep areas, cutting boards, and utensils.
  • Ensure dining areas are cleaned and disinfected after every meal, including tables, chairs, and serving stations.

Sanitation & Housekeeping
  • Maintain a sanitary environment using universal precautions, including proper PPE usage and the safe handling/disposal of bodily fluids. Follow biohazard protocols when cleaning up spills or contamination.
  • Perform routine janitorial duties daily, including:
    • Sweeping and mopping all floors (client rooms, hallways, kitchen).
    • Vacuuming carpeted areas.
    • Emptying trash bins and replacing liners.
    • Cleaning windows, walls, and vents weekly or as needed.
  • Conduct deep cleaning of client dorms/rooms weekly or upon discharge, including disinfecting mattresses, wiping down all surfaces, laundering linens, and checking for pests or damage.

Transportation & Vehicle Maintenance
  • Drive clients to and from scheduled appointments and program activities, ensuring timely and safe transport in compliance with organizational protocols.
  • Maintain daily transportation logs, noting mileage, trip purposes, and any issues during transit.
  • Inspect company vehicles before each use and report maintenance or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
  • Clean and sanitize high-touch areas in vehicles (steering wheel, seatbelts, door handles, gear shift, dashboard) before and after each use.

Minimum Qualifications/Preferred Experience:
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to send and receive emails and summarize data in spreadsheets.
  • Valid CA Driver's License, 5 years of clean DMV record, and eligibility for company vehicle insurance.
Preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
