Job description

Micro Assembly Technician
Automation Personnel is seeking a detail-oriented Micro Assembly Technician to support the manufacturing line for advanced optoelectronic components for a company based in Sugar Land, Texas. This role combines responsibilities of both Operators and Technicians, requiring hands-on assembly, microscopic inspection, and precision work of laser diode (LD) components.
The ideal candidate will work with extremely small-scale parts ranging from 1 mm down to 250 microns, performing delicate operations under a microscope, including alignment and handling of small micro-scale components that are critical to the product performance
 
Pay Rate
$25.00 an hour
 
Schedule and Hours
Monday through Wednesday (alternating Sundays) 7:00 am to 7:00 pm 
Thursday through Saturday (alternating Sundays) 7:00 am to 7:00 pm 
 
Micro Assembly Technician Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform precision assembly of optoelectronic components, including laser diodes (LDs) and related subassemblies.
• Handle and manipulate microscopic components ranging from 1 mm to 250 microns in size
• Conduct fine wire bonding, placement, and alignment of wires as small as 1 mil diameter (25 microns) under a microscope.
• Utilize microscopes and precision tools to assemble, align, and inspect components to tight tolerances.
• Execute modification of assemblies to meet engineering and quality standards.
• Follow detailed work instructions, SOPs, and engineering drawings with high accuracy.
• Perform in-process inspections to ensure product quality and yield targets are met.
• Maintain proper documentation of completed work, including tracking and reporting defects or issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to yield, quality, and process efficiency.
• Adhere to cleanroom protocols, ESD requirements, and safety procedures.
 
Micro Assembly Technician Qualifications and Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent. 
• 2+ years of experience in precision assembly, microelectronics, semiconductor, or related manufacturing environment.
• Experience working under a microscope for extended periods.
• Hands-on experience handling small-scale or delicate components
• Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and perform repetitive tasks with high accuracy.
• Basic understanding of cleanroom and ESD practices.
•  Experience with laser diode (LD) assembly, photonics, or fiber optics
• Experience with wire bonding or micro-soldering techniques.
• Familiarity with semiconductor or optoelectronics manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings or schematics.
• Prior experience with rework and repair of micro-components.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Steady hands and precision-focused workmanship.
• Patience and ability to work on highly repetitive, delicate tasks.
• Problem-solving mindset for rework and defect identification.
• Strong accountability for quality and output.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
