Miami Jewish Health is one of the largest providers of healthcare and living options for aging adults in the Southeast. We operate Florida PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) Centers, the largest PACE program in Florida, which serves as health plan, healthcare provider, and social center designed for older adults with complex medical needs. We have four adult day health centers that serve participants in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

Job Title: Medical Secretary
Job Summary
Provides secretarial support utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital, clinic, or laboratory procedures; Provides clerical duties for PACE staff as needed.
Essential Job Functions
โ€ข Handles all telephone calls and greets visitors and participants; Takes message as needed and delivers to appropriate personnel
โ€ข Schedules all participant diagnostic appointments and medical consultations
โ€ข Request medical records; Ensures that all results from all laboratory, radiological and other tests and procedures are obtained and reported to the physician and clinical staff
โ€ข Checks all medications received from Pharmacy on a daily basis to ensure that they match what was ordered; Prepares them with delivery tickets and distributes them to the appropriate driver
โ€ข Maintains unit specific documentation as per department guidelines and regulatory standards
โ€ข Maintains Electronic Medical Record
โ€ข Acts as support for Patient Coordinator; Understands priorities of Coordinator position and perform scheduling and coordination duties when required Including authorizations; Provides authorization for treatment/procedures to hospitals and other providers; Enters information in the system and maintains an updated agenda
โ€ข Responsible to update daily IDT agenda and record daily IDT minutes
โ€ข Performs clerical and support functions for the department
โ€ข Attends department meetings and in-services as needed
โ€ข Order supplies for PACE on the Meditech system
โ€ข Manages traffic flow in the clinic exhibiting an assertive professional behavior at all times
Job Requirements
Education:
โ€ข High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
โ€ข Minimum six months office clerical experience preferably in a healthcare setting
Licenses/Certifications:
โ€ข Medical secretary certification preferred
Abilities Required
โ€ข Knowledge of medical terminology
โ€ข Strong organizational skills
โ€ข Self-starter and self-motivated
โ€ข Strong computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point
โ€ข Ability to work with geriatric patients
โ€ข Demonstrates a caring attitude toward PACE participants, family members, employees, and other facility guests
โ€ข Must be able to speak, read and write English
โ€ข Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
