Miami Jewish Health is one of the largest providers of healthcare and living options for aging adults in the Southeast. We operate Florida PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) Centers, the largest PACE program in Florida, which serves as health plan, healthcare provider, and social center designed for older adults with complex medical needs. We have four adult day health centers that serve participants in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

Job Title: Driver

Job Summary

Provides off campus transportation for the residents, tenants, and clients of MJH. Transports clients from the community to MJHS satellite facilities, doctors, and clinics.

Essential Job Functions

Transports persons to and from MJH and other locations

Assists passengers on and off the van in a safe and courteous manner. Deals with medical equipment and other emergencies that may arise

Maintains vehicles in standard working condition and clean. Reports any needs for maintenance immediately

Maintains necessary documentation such as passenger logs

Reports accidents and/or incidents immediately, per established department protocol

Performs courier and banking functions as needed

Follows all department safety policies and procedures at all times

Participates as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team and attends department meetings and in-services as necessary

Job Requirements

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience:

Two years' experience driving passenger bus or larger, with wheelchair accessibility preferred

One-year experience in carrying elderly and/or disabled passengers

Licenses/Certifications:

Current Florida Commercial Driver's License Class A, B or C with passenger endorsement preferred

CPR and First Aid Certification preferred

Abilities Required

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of Dade County streets

Ability to deal with physical and emotionally frail, elderly and/or disabled persons

Ability to get in and out of the buses constantly to assist passengers

Must attend and pass safety driving program annually, and maintain good driving record

Operates equipment to assist disabled persons

Functional Demands

Heavy lifting and pushing of wheelchairs

Infectious Material Exposure:

Possible exposure to blood/ body fluids/ tissues

Physical Capability Test

Must be able to pass a physical capability test upon hire
