Job description

Licensed Behavioral Health Counselor - Full time - Days
Schedule: 9:00am-5:30pm with weekends
  • Provides behavioral health counseling services.
  • Conducts patient assessments and establishes therapy treatment goals.
  • Administers individual and group therapy. Maintains thorough and confidential records of observations.
  • Evaluates progress and effectiveness of therapy interventions.
  • Provides patient with information regarding resources and therapeutic activities in the community.
  • Works directly with the patient, family, physician and community providers to ensure active and collaborate care from the initiation of treatment to the time of discharge.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association Education:
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • MCBAP credential preferred - High quality therapy skills
  • Skilled with co-occurring disorders and trauma
  • Professional and/or personal experience with recovery
  • Exceptional ability to communicate and problem-solve with others - Self-accountability and follow through - Preferred experience with county systems (FOCUS/ODIN/MHWIN)

CERTIFICATION/LICENCES REQUIRED One or more of the following required:
  • Licensed Master Social Worker credentialed from the Michigan Board of Social Work obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Licensed Counselor credentialed from the Michigan Board of Counseling obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Licensed Psychologist credentialed from the Michigan Board of Psychology obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
  • Therapist specializing in Marriage & Family obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Any issuing authority accepted.
