Mental Health Peer Specialists (MHPS) often draw on their own lived experiences to support clients, making self-care and personal boundaries crucial in this role. They typically receive supervision and participate in peer support meetings to process their experiences and maintain emotional health. Organizations encourage MHPS professionals to set clear limits, access mental health resources, and regularly engage in self-reflection to avoid burnout. By prioritizing their own wellness, MHPS professionals can model healthy coping strategies and provide sustainable, empathetic support to clients.
