Metering Systems Specialist - Itron Headend
We are seeking a hands-on Metering Systems Specialist with strong experience in Itron headend platforms, including Field Collection System (FCS), Temetra, MV90, and UIQ. The role requires deep technical understanding of meter configurations, data acquisition processes, batch operations, and system integrations across the utility IT landscape.
This position will support development, configuration, troubleshooting, and operational optimization of Itron metering systems and their downstream integrations with billing, MDMS, outage, and analytics platforms.
Itron Headend System Configuration & Support
• Perform hands-on configuration and development in Itron headend systems:
o Field Collection System (FCS)
o Temetra
o MV90
o UIQ
• Configure and manage meter definitions, templates, and profiles across different meter types (electric, gas, water).
• Support meter onboarding, commissioning, and lifecycle changes.
Meter Data Collection & Processing
• Configure and support upload/download processes for meters and field devices.
• Manage meter read schedules, polling strategies, and collection windows.
• Configure and monitor batch jobs for:
o Interval data collection
o Register reads
o Event and alarm processing
o Estimation and validation (where applicable)
• Troubleshoot issues with missing reads, partial reads, delayed collection, and data anomalies.
Batch & Operational Process Management
• Design, configure, and tune batch processes in MV90, FCS and Temetra.
• Monitor batch execution, handle failures, and perform root cause analysis.
• Optimize batch performance to meet billing, settlement, and reporting timelines.
• Document batch dependencies and upstream/downstream impacts.
System Integration & Data Flow
• Understand and support integrations between Itron systems and:
o MDMS platforms
o CIS / Billing systems (e.g., SAP IS-U or equivalent)
o Outage Management Systems (OMS)
o Data warehouses and analytics platforms
• Troubleshoot end-to-end data flows from meter → headend → downstream systems.
• Work with middleware, APIs, flat-file transfers, or messaging-based integrations.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise
• Strong hands-on experience with Itron headend systems, including:
o MV90 (batch configuration, data processing, interval & register data)
o Temetra (meter management, data collection, workflows)
o FCS (field communications, device interactions)
o UIQ (data visualization and access)
• Deep understanding of:
o Meter configuration and templates
o Data upload/download mechanisms
o Batch scheduling and execution
o Interval, register, and event data structures
• Experience working with AMI / AMR metering environments
• Experience with SQL and UNIX.
Integration & Utility Knowledge
• Understanding of utility data flows from meter to billing.
• Familiarity with MDMS, CIS, OMS, and analytics integrations.
• Knowledge of utility operations such as:
o Billing cycles
o Settlement and validation processes
o Outage and event handling
Tools & Environment
• Comfortable working in production support and non-production environments.
• Experience analyzing logs, batch outputs, and system reports.
• Ability to work with SQL or data queries (desirable).
Preferred Qualifications
