Associate Metrology Technician

Program Summary

The KBR Metrology team supports manufacturing, engineering & test, repair & overhaul, and aftermarket service centers globally in support of Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Medical, Safety, Semiconductor and other industries. Our support includes services such as complete management of embedded metrology systems, calibration and repair, test & inspection, metrology engineering, preventive maintenance, NADCAP special process support, and AMS2750 Heat Treat pyrometry services and more. Our teams are located across the globe working in KBR and customer embedded laboratories as well as performing onsite visits with our field service operations and mobile laboratory platforms. Our teams work to ensure our customer systems are maintained to high standards through calibration, preventative maintenance, automation and programming, calibration recall system management, and audit support. We ensure great customer experience by tracking and providing performance and delivery metrics through digital dashboards, as well as routine customer service surveys and direct customer meetings.

Job Summary

Associate Metrology Technician is responsible for performing routine calibrations, tests and/or inspections in-lab or on-site using accredited standards. Calibrations, tests and inspections may be performed with and/or without automation. The position requires fluency in calibration, test, and/or inspection procedures and processes, and hands-on experience with setting up basic test equipment calibration systems. This role will report to the lead technician and lab manager.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration and certification of basic electronic and physical/dimensional measuring and test equipment according to technical specifications, ensuring traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

  • Calibrate and repair equipment such as multimeters, timers, pressure gauges, thermometers, scales, torque wrenches

  • Record maintenance activities in CMS, generate reports on results of tests, conditions of equipment and/or systems, repairs, and preventive maintenance performed, and prepare necessary documentation as required by customer and regulatory requirements.

  • Utilize common laboratory measuring, calibrating, and test equipment.

  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 2+ years of experience in the field, OR associate's degree in engineering technology or a relevant field with 1 year of experience.

  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, torque wrenches, dimensional hand tools, pressure gauges, force and load devices

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software, including Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IndySoft, Fluke Met/Team, Fluke Met/Track, and Met/Cal systems.

  • Familiarity with laboratory measurement and calibration equipment.
