Job description

As a Senior Product Designer on Discovery, you'll help design the surfaces that connects billions of users with the best experiences for them. This includes home page, ranking, search, events, notifications, onboarding and more. You will design end-to-end discovery products for our core player app working collaboratively with other leaders across product, research, data science and engineering to define the best discovery experiences for our immersive platform.

You'll help define UX strategy, product patterns, contribute to roadmap, and define sprint commitments. You'll be an inspirational designer, innovating on zero to one discovery features, partnering and mentoring other dedicated designers as we build an industry leading metaverse platform.

You'll make an impact that fuels our user's creativity and enables players around the world to enjoy incredible experiences on Roblox at a time of sustained growth for our business.

You will:

  • Help define the UX design strategy and collaborate on the roadmap for core Discovery surfaces on Roblox.
  • Develop a deep understanding of user needs, behaviors, and motivations to advise design decisions.
  • Care about craft by creating visually compelling and intuitive user interfaces across devices and surfaces for a global audience.
  • Collaborate with the Foundation Design Systems team and co-develop new patterns and UI components to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Understand the role of younger players, teen and adult players, brands, creators and studios to create a discovery strategy that serves all audiences.
  • Leverage analytics and user feedback to identify pain points and implement data-driven improvements.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, influencing and aligning design decisions.
  • Partner with engineering by providing high-quality design specs and partner on implementation to deliver a high-quality, high-craft experience
  • Present design journeys and strategies at the team level

You have:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Product Design, User Experience Design, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in UX/UI design, with a strong track record of delivery innovative consumer discovery experiences
  • A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional visual design skills and user-centered design thinking.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Blender, Maya or similar software.
  • End to End systems thinking that advocates for comprehensive and connected user experiences
  • A solid understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices.
  • Expert knowledge of communication design patterns and familiarity with e-commerce, 3D Avatars and gaming experiences.
  • Proactive problem solving and project management skills, with the ability to lead and inspire a design team.
  • Collaborative mentality with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence design decisions.
  • A deep understanding and passion for the gaming industry, especially user-generated content platforms like Roblox.
  • A keen interest in user experience trends, industry advancements, and emerging technologies.
  • The ability to balance business objectives, user needs, and technical constraints in design solutions.
