Job description

OVERVIEW

 

The Metal Finisher prepares the surface finish of tooling from the customer for the coating process.


RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Primary duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

·       Evaluating customer prints, specifications, purchase orders, and other information to determine work

needed during polishing process.

·       Examining the surface of tools to detect defects, such as dents, scratches, or cracks in the substrate.

·       Grinding, filing, or sanding of surfaces of dies, punches and other parts using hand tools, power tools,

and knowledge of metal finishing techniques.  

·       Polishing the surface to a smooth finish according to customer requirements.

·       Process the orders in a timely manner to ensure production schedule and quality standards are met.

·       Maintain a neat, organized, and safe working area.

 

 Secondary duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

·       Assist with the removal of coating from tools.

·       Assist with the cleaning of tools prior to coating.

·       Other duties as assigned for the benefit of Eifeler Coatings Technology.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

 

·       High School Diploma or equivalent

·       Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, in English

·       A minimum of five years of verifiable experience with metal finishing with dies and molds, preferably

in the automotive industry

·       Ability to read and interpret prints and drawings

·       A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based programs

·       Ability to work within a team environment

·       Ability to move large dies either by hand or using mechanical moving equipment
