Could you be the full-time Lead Design Engineer in New Castle, DE we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll specifically take care of failure analysis, test bench development, and make vs buy analysis.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Manage testability and repairability for components on NGHST and Legacy Acela.
  • Develop test procedures and specify bench test equipment
  • Manage cost by performing make vs by analysis
  • Perform failure analysis for components under repair.

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent) with strong electrical background
  • Familiar with component design and redesign, obsolescence, and risk management across a broad set of systems
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, ideally including PCB design/exposure (mandatory)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in engineering related field - system engineering.
  • Experience in at least one of the following specialized areas within rail, transportation, or related heavy industry: hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electronics/electrical hardware, railway door systems, railway signaling systems, railway HVAC, or railway mechanical systems.
  • Experience working ‘hands on’ with railway equipment (ideally in the environment of Rolling Stock warranty and reliability growth) is desired.
  • Knowledge of railway systems is desired.
  • Utilize your skills in strategic system thinking
  • Leadership or team lead experience, with the ability to mentor and build a team
  • Self-starter who can independently own projects with minimal day-to-day oversight

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges and a long-term career free from boring daily routines.
  • Work with cutting edge systems in high speed rail.
  • Collaborate with transverse teams and helpful colleagues.
  • Contribute to innovative projects.
  • Utilise our collaborative working environment.
  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries.
  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning.
  • Progress towards engineering leadership roles.
  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward packag e that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, 401k).

Location and Travel

  • On-site position based in New Castle, DE (Alstom East Coast Distribution Facility), some remote work flexibility.
  • Average travel: up to 20% of time.

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
