Job description

1 Resource Group is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our client's machine shop team in San Antonio, TX The ideal candidate will have experience operating conventional machine tools, performing precision machining, welding, metalizing, and equipment repair. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work while maintaining a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Observe all Safety procedures and use proper protective gear (especially eye and ear protection).
  • Record all data necessary to produce expected service and/or design results, including sizing’s and illustrations.
  • Use measuring devices and techniques correctly to assure proper sizing’s. 
  • Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring and conventional milling and lathe work, using various engine lathes (e.g., horizontal and vertical mills and horizontal boring mills).
  • Perform various metalizing (metal spraying) and spray welding techniques as needed. 
  • Understand materials and applications as required.
  • Perform various welding operations, including setup and use of MIG, TIG, torch and stick welders. 
  • Set up and perform tool-post grinding operations (e.g., precision surface facing), broaching procedures, and Babbitt bearing work.
  • Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tolls, including but not limited to band saws, belt sanders, hand grinders, files, etc.
  • Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work and/or to observe safety precautions.
  • Assist other machinist in department with skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor and shop manager.
  • Assist other shop departments with skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor and shop manager. 
  • Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor. 


$25.00-$32.00 HR DOE

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, plus trade school, vocational/technical school, military, or on-the-job training and/or certifications.
  • Laser alignment and field balancing ability preferred, but not required.
