Job description

We are a well-established and continually growing organization in the Metal Manufacturing Industry seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to lead purchasing and procurement activities and ensure timely, cost-effective, and reliable acquisition of materials and goods at our facility in St Paul, MN (relocation assistance is available). This role oversees the full procurement cycle, including supplier sourcing and development, contract negotiation, and inventory optimization.
The ideal candidate will have strengths in negotiation, market analysis, contract management, and inventory management, along with the desire to find a long-term career opportunity with a structured and advancing organization offering lots of room for growth.
Responsibilities:
  • Initiate, prepare, process, and verify purchase orders following established guidelines to ensure timely delivery of materials and goods.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier interactions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers to expand and strengthen the supply base.
  • Negotiate contracts on behalf of the organization to secure favorable terms, pricing, and cost reductions.
  • Track and maintain optimal inventory levels to ensure material availability without overstocking.
  • Follow established safety procedures and maintain compliance with Medical, OSHA, and ISO standards.

Qualifications:
  • 1+ year of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related experience.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing suppliers and purchase orders.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and demand planning principles.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • JobBOSS software experience preferred.
  • Skills in Microsoft outlook, excel, etc.

This is a direct hire, long-term career opportunity; the starting base pay range is $65K-$80K plus benefits and incentives.
