What is a Metal Framing job?

A Metal Framing job involves constructing the structural framework of buildings using lightweight steel or aluminum components instead of traditional wood. Metal framers read blueprints, measure and cut materials, and assemble framing structures for walls, ceilings, and floors. This method is commonly used in commercial and residential construction due to its durability, resistance to pests, and fire safety benefits. Workers in this field must have skills in measuring, cutting, fastening, and interpreting construction plans.

Metal framing professionals usually work on construction sites, which may be residential, commercial, or industrial, and they often work both indoors and outdoors depending on the project. Work hours can vary based on project deadlines, and overtime is sometimes expected. Many employers offer opportunities to advance into supervisory roles or specialize in areas such as project management or quality control. Having strong teamwork and communication skills helps ensure efficient progress and a safe environment for everyone involved.
