Job description

Investment Infrastructure Research Data Team Member

Investment Infrastructure Research Data team is in the midst a multi-year project to consolidate our quantitative investment framework. The project includes migrating 3 distinct quantitative data architectures onto Snowflake, a new research and back testing framework, a new portfolio implementation toolkit, a new risk monitoring environment, and a new order and execution management system.

This role will be focused on the data architecture component. Our Data Architecture team is focused on building a new infrastructure that embraces polyglot persistence and ModelOps methodologies to solve design goals including rapid onboarding, discovery, quality control, and accessibility.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage the onboarding of new research datasets
  • Collaborate with our market data team to secure new data trial and license agreements
  • Write data pipeline specifications, map external data to our internal data model, develop test cases, review test results, and oversee related development projects
  • Write data quality rule specifications, configure related metadata, and collaborate with the Research Data Oversight team
  • Author data writeups in our data catalog and configure related metadata
  • Manage permissions around licensed data sets
  • Continuously improve our data management and oversight process, collaborating with our operations team to document data-related incidents, implement smarter controls and mitigate the impact of data provider outages

What We're Looking For:

  • Degree in Finance/ Economics, Operations Management, or Computer Science/Engineering, Master's degree preferred
  • 5+ years' experience as a business data analyst involved in enterprise data integration in the finance industry
  • Experience with market data vendors - Bloomberg, Refinitiv QADirect, MSCI, BarraOne, et. al.
  • 2+ years' experience writing SQL queries to support data analysis
  • Strong project management, analytical and quantitative skills
  • Data modeling and mapping skills, ability to identify business data types and entity relationships
  • Knowledge of financial instruments, market and fundamental research data
  • Candidate must be willing to take full ownership of projects, covering analysis, functional design and implementation, testing, and deployment tasks
  • Must demonstrate good communication skills and be comfortable working closely with senior quantitative analysts and business partners
  • A strong desire to document and share work done to aid in long term support
  • Demonstrable curiosity in quantitative research and investment
  • Python
