PI Subject Matter Expert
The PI Subject Matter Expert (SME) will lead and support the design, build, migration, and stabilization of AVEVA PI environments as part of a multi-year enterprise historian modernization program. The role spans eDNA to PI migration, WAMS/EMS/CRAS PI environment build-outs, metadata modelling, interface migrations, historical data loads, testing, production cutover, and post-go-live support across QA, PDS, and Production environments.
• Perform eDNA to PI gap analysis, covering functionality, metadata, event files, and reporting.
• Define PI environment preparation strategy for Grid systems.
• Author detailed specifications for metadata updates, event file management, and extraction approaches.
• Support preparation and validation of eDNA data extracts.
• Drive stakeholder reviews and mutual sign off of analysis outputs.
• Lead event file migrations from CRAS and WAMS into PI.
• Execute and validate historical data loads.
• Build and validate AF/DA metadata models aligned to Grid operations.
• Design, build, and migrate interfaces, including DGA and DeltaX.
• Support Grid QA, PDS, and Production cutovers.
• Assist with system validation, performance tuning, and data reconciliation.
• Participate in cutover planning, execution, and stabilization.
• Provide SME support during finalization, turnover, and handover activities
• Support training and change management activities for PI users and operations teams.
• Contribute to metadata standards and governance.
• Develop and review technical documentation.
• Provide user support and knowledge transfer post go live.
• Drive final documentation and mutual sign off.
Technical Skills
• 10+ years of experience with AVEVA PI System (PI DA, AF, Vision).
• Strong expertise in historian migrations (eDNA → PI preferred).
• Hands on experience with WAMS, EMS, CRAS, or Grid systems.
• Experience with event files, historical data loads, and large scale PI systems.
• Strong understanding of PI interfaces, AF modelling, and metadata design.
• Proven ability to support enterprise testing, SAT cycles, and production cutovers.
