Job description

Job Summary:

The Assessment and Accreditation Specialist serves as the primary analyst supporting academic program evaluation, student outcomes assessment, and data-informed decision making within the College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Specialist identifies creative solutions and incorporates new processes to improve data collection and data analysis. This position develops reports and analytical models to support academic planning, program assessment, enrollment management, and program effectiveness. The Specialist works internally with other divisions in the College of Medicine and the University. This position serves as the functional expert on academic data systems and research methodology, utilizing analytical capabilities to support both efficient internal academic processes and evidence-based strategies for student success and program improvement. The Specialist is under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Assessment and Accreditation. Responsible for all functions 8 hours/day, 5 days/week.  Incumbents are subject to hours beyond the normal workday.


Job Responsibilities:

  1. Compile, retrieve, and analyze data from academic and administrative systems, surveys, and external sources to support routine and ad hoc reporting requests from departments, committees, and college leadership, providing recommendations based on sound analytical methodology.
  2. Develop and maintain statistical models and analytical tools for projecting applicant volume, enrollment trends, recruitment outcomes, and program performance to inform goal setting and strategic planning in assessment and accreditation.
  3. Maintain assessment and accreditation data collection and reporting, including survey administration, data cleaning and processing, and the integration of data from multiple internal and external sources.
  4. Monitor trends in medical education, medical student admissions, academic performance, faculty feedback, and student feedback to identify areas for program enhancement, and synthesize findings into ready-to-use decision tools and recommendations for academic divisions and senior leadership.
  5. Works collaboratively with associate deans, assistant deans, chairs, course directors, faculty, program coordinators, directors, and others to advance assessment and accreditation initiatives.
  6. Contribute to meta-analyses, evidence synthesis projects, and research related to academic program evaluation, student success, program effectiveness, and accreditation, including supporting the development of presentations and reports.
  7. Work collaboratively to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and documentation for data collection, reporting processes, and analytical methodologies, and assist with training colleagues on data systems and tools.
  8. Liaise with Academic Affairs, Clinical Affairs, Admissions, IT, and university stakeholders to ensure alignment of data resources with institutional priorities.
  9. Performs other accountabilities as assigned or directed.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in biostatistics, data analytics, mathematics, or other quantitative majors.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the design, analysis, and reporting of data with at least one (1) year in academics.
  • Strong programming skills combined with the willingness to learn other statistical software.
  • Valid driver’s license. Liability insurance.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in biostatistics, data analytics, mathematics, information technology or other quantitative majors.
  • Four (4) years of experience in the design, analysis, and reporting of data with at least two (2) years in academics.
  • Demonstrated ability to build data quality assurance systems and manage collaborative data projects.
  • Familiarity working with a variety of machine learning models.
