About the Role



An established consulting engineering firm located in the Tampa Bay, Florida area has an immediate need for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. As the Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing project management and mechanical technical leadership to the mechanical staff. This individual is a recognized subject matter expert in engineering HVAC systems, Plumbing systems, Fire Protection systems, Sustainable design and Life Cycle Cost Analysis for Public and Private sector buildings. You will also mentor junior staff members, perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control reviews of mechanical designs, visit project sites for site investigations and perform construction oversight.



Responsibilities



  • Collaborate with all internal discipline employees, external design partners, and clients
  • Lead, direct, and develop our team of mechanical engineers to ensure that mechanical engineering operations are completed efficiently and effectively
  • Lead project site walks and client meetings
  • Mentor, train, and supervise junior engineers
  • Cultivate client relationships, educate, and effectively communicate complex ideas and solve engineering issues that may arise
  • Perform QA/QC
  • Assist management with scheduling, scope development, and proposal development
  • Strategically contribute to overall firm goals



Qualifications



  • 6+ years of experience in the engineering of mechanical systems for various types of facilities including layout and design of HVAC systems, HVAC controls, hydronic systems, plumbing systems and fire protection systems.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an ABET accredited college
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with NCEES record and the ability to obtain multistate licensure
  • Knowledge of building codes and energy standards
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT is essential
  • Experience with HAP v6, COMcheck, and other leading energy modeling software
  • Understanding of Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Systems
  • Understanding of Commissioning of Mechanical Systems
  • Experience communicating directly with clients
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Planning and team management skills
