Mes Developer information

What does a MES Developer do?

A MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining MES solutions that improve manufacturing processes. They work with software systems that track and document the transformation of raw materials into finished products, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance. Their role involves integrating MES with enterprise systems like ERP and PLCs, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing workflows to enhance production performance.

What engineer makes $500,000 a year?

A Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist with extensive experience, advanced skills, and often working in high-demand industries can earn $500,000 or more annually. Such roles typically require strong programming, statistical knowledge, and sometimes leadership responsibilities or equity compensation.

What jobs make $1,000,000 a year?

For a MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Developer, earning $1,000,000 annually is uncommon and typically requires senior-level expertise, extensive experience, and often involvement in high-stakes projects or consulting roles. Most MES developers earn a median salary significantly below that threshold, but those in executive or specialized consulting positions may reach high income levels. Achieving such earnings generally involves leadership roles, equity, or performance bonuses beyond standard salaries.

What are the primary day-to-day responsibilities of a MES Developer?

A MES Developer is typically responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Manufacturing Execution System applications that optimize factory operations. On a daily basis, you might collaborate with production engineers, IT teams, and quality assurance staff to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and implement customizations or integrations. You'll also work on data mapping between shop floor equipment and enterprise systems, create user interfaces, and perform system testing or documentation. This role requires balancing technical tasks with stakeholder communication to ensure solutions align with both operational and business goals.

What is a MES developer?

A MES developer designs, implements, and maintains Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) that monitor and control production processes in manufacturing environments. They typically work with industrial software, databases, and automation tools, requiring knowledge of programming languages and manufacturing workflows.

What engineers make $300,000 a year?

Senior software engineers, especially those with expertise in high-demand areas like machine learning, cloud computing, or cybersecurity, can earn $300,000 or more annually. These roles often require advanced skills, extensive experience, and sometimes certifications, and may include bonuses or stock options in their compensation packages.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Mes Developer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a MES Developer, you need a strong background in computer science or engineering, experience with manufacturing processes, and proficiency in programming languages like C#, Java, or SQL. Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems such as Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FactoryTalk, or Wonderware, along with relevant certifications, is often required. Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams make a candidate stand out. These competencies are crucial for efficiently developing, implementing, and supporting solutions that bridge the gap between factory floor operations and enterprise systems.

Overview

The Client is undergoing a major Medicaid Enterprise Modularity (AMMP) transformationโ€”transitioning from a legacy, monolithic system to a modular, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) environment. The initiative aligns with CMS standards such as MITA, MECL, MECT, and Outcomes-Based Certification.

To ensure strong quality and testing governance across this multi-year, multi-vendor initiative, itย has established the Enterprise Quality Program (EQP). The agency seeks an Enterprise Quality Program Manager (EQP Manager) to lead all aspects of quality assurance and testing for the Medicaid Enterprise System (MES).

This role reports to the MES Associate Director and partners with PMO, vendor teams, and AMA departments to maintain high testing and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the MES Enterprise Quality Program Manager, ensuring testing and QA programs operate effectively across all MES modules.

  • Collaborate with internal teamsโ€”operations, security, infrastructure, data governance, and project managementโ€”to align quality efforts with business goals.

  • Oversee and evaluate the PMO Vendorโ€™s Quality Management Plan, ensuring compliance with state and federal standards.

  • Act as Test Director, developing and executing multi-phase Enterprise Test Strategies (functional, regression, performance, automated, and manual testing).

  • Design and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure program effectiveness and testing quality.

  • Manage testing vendors, contracts, and RFP processes, ensuring timely and quality deliverables.

  • Facilitate integration and coordination across multiple test teams for end-to-end MES solution testing.

  • Apply Agile methodologies, SDLC principles, and strong Azure DevOps practices to support testing and reporting.

  • Oversee QA documentation, risk management, and issue resolution.

Required Qualifications
  • 7โ€“10 years of experience in quality assurance and test management.

  • 3โ€“5 years developing test strategies for complex enterprise systems.

  • 3โ€“5 years managing or coordinating multi-vendor projects.

  • Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile, and QA methodologies.

  • Proficiency in Azure DevOps, Microsoft Office Suite, and SharePoint.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex testing concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Proven experience working with senior leadership and key stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience on Medicaid or major healthcare payer projects.

  • Program or Project Management background.

  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools or frameworks.

  • Knowledge of Medicaid Transformation Initiatives and MMIS modernization.

  • Experience building RFPs and evaluating vendor proposals.

  • Strong analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.

  • Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.

Education
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
    โ€“ OR โ€“
