Compensation: $600,00 Salary, $50,000 Sign On, up to $50,000 Relocation
Position Highlights - Join a growing plastic surgery practice with strong institutional support - Mix of reconstructive, cosmetic, trauma, and cancer reconstruction cases - Faculty/teaching opportunities with medical students and residents - 4 days clinic + 1 day OR / 1 day ASC per week - Call: approximately 5 days per month - Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and more - Located in a rapidly growing tristate area with easy access to DC and Baltimore
Clinical Practice This role provides a varied plastic surgery practice with a balanced mix of reconstructive and cosmetic procedures. The incoming surgeon will help fill the gap left by a departing provider, focusing on facial reconstruction, cosmetic work, and trauma call.
Key Responsibilities Include: - Comprehensive perioperative care for plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures - Consults for trauma, cancer reconstruction, and cosmetic cases - Facial reconstruction and cosmetic surgery - Trauma call coverage - Teaching and mentoring of medical students and residents (Wednesdays dedicated to teaching/shadowing in clinic and OR)
Practice Breakdown: - Clinic: 4 days per week - OR: 1 day per week - ASC: 1 day per week (with 2 Wednesdays per month dedicated to cosmetic cases)
Typical Clinical Volume: - Clinic: 20-25 patients per day - Procedures: 2-3 cases per day in OR/ASC + 3-6 local anesthesia procedures per day (volume varies seasonally, busiest March-May)
Patient Population & Case Mix Treat a wide variety of patients across reconstructive, trauma, cancer, and cosmetic needs. This is **not** a predominantly cosmetic/non-insurance position - expect a significant mix of insurance-billed reconstructive and trauma cases.
Academic & Faculty Role - Participate in teaching medical students and residents (general surgery residency with opportunities in growing programs) - Students shadow in clinic and OR, with teaching and procedure discussions - Involvement in the growing residency and medical school programs at Meritus Health
Schedule & Call - Clinic/OR schedule: 4 days clinic, 1 day OR, 1 day ASC weekly - Call rotation: Approximately 5 days per month - Collaborative team environment with APP support
Strong Clinical Support - Dedicated APP support - Collaborative team including surgeons, APPs, and support staff - Access to growing academic resources and facilities
About Meritus Health Meritus Health is a tristate leading healthcare facility located in Hagerstown, the panhandle of Maryland. Meritus Health is dedicated to providing exceptional medical services and advancing medical education. As a Meritus plastic surgeon you will perform consults as well as comprehensive perioperative care on a wide range of plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures including cosmetic, trauma and cancer reconstruction. A candidate will also be involved in the growing residency and medical school programs.
Requirements - Medical Degree - Board-certified or board-eligible in Plastic Surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery
