Find your calling at Mercy!Under the direction of the primary care operations team, the Primary Care Patient Care MA works directly with Mercy Primary Care Providers to provide safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, patient-centered care in a systematic way. The Primary Care Patient Care MA will partner with patients, providers, and other members of the clinical care team to drive quality outcomes for all patients. Duties and responsibilities will be performed in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.Position Details:
Mercy Clinic at Work is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our employer-based clinic located at Worldwide Technology (WWT) in Edwardsville. This unique Primary Care/Urgent Care hybrid clinic serves WWT employees, spouses, and dependents. The MA will work alongside an experienced care team that includes a Physician, Registered Nurse, and Medical Assistant.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Support
  • Prepare patients for provider visits by:
    • Recording chief complaints
    • Obtaining vital signs
    • Reviewing medical history and allergies
    • Performing medication reconciliation
    • Completing Advanced Standard Rooming processes
    • Addressing preventative care gaps, including fall risk assessments, depression screenings, cancer screenings, diabetic eye exams, and rechecking elevated blood pressure readings
  • Administer vaccines and injections within scope of practice.
  • Assist with in-office testing, including:
    • Phlebotomy/blood draws
    • EKGs
    • Mental status examinations
    • Walking oxygen studies
    • Point-of-care testing
  • Manage triage and in-basket responsibilities, including:
    • Reviewing and following up on test results
    • Responding to MyMercy messages
    • Processing medication refill requests
Population Health & Employer Wellness Support
  • Represent Mercy at WWT wellness events and health fairs.
  • Provide blood pressure screenings, flu shot clinics, and support other employer wellness initiatives.
  • Assist with annual wellness screening campaigns by collecting vitals and completing employee screenings.
Administrative & Front Office Support
  • Perform EPIC charting, referral coordination, and event-related data entry.
  • Check patients in and update demographic and insurance information.
  • Obtain required forms and signatures.
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage incoming calls.
  • Communicate and route messages appropriately.
  • Monitor and adjust provider schedules as needed.
Qualifications
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience with EPIC registration, scheduling, and patient data entry preferred.
  • Strong clinical, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must maintain a professional, energetic, and customer-focused presence as a representative of Mercy at the employer clinic.
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally to the WWT clinic in Edwardsville, IL for wellness events or coverage needs (infrequent).

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Education Preferred: Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program

Experience Preferred: One year of applicable patient care experience or applicable medical office experience as defined by the clinic

New hire must attend MA Clinic Academy training
