The Quality Control Laboratory Technician performs advanced laboratory testing to support the quality evaluation of veterinary biological products. Working under the guidance of laboratory leadership, this role conducts testing in accordance with strict government regulations, company standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The technician utilizes analytical instrumentation and biological testing methods while maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory-based testing using aseptic techniques in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.
- Conduct quality testing of veterinary biological products using a variety of analytical instruments and testing methods.
- Maintain and evaluate testing standards and ensure the accuracy and integrity of test results.
- Enter test results into QC tracking systems and perform record cross-checks for accuracy.
- Maintain concurrent documentation including charts, logbooks, and other required records.
- Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Perform advanced mathematical calculations, conversions, and formulations related to testing activities.
- Clean and maintain laboratory work areas, including floors, walls, benches, and equipment.
- Report unusual or non-routine occurrences during testing activities.
- Accumulate, label, and manage hazardous, universal, and/or infectious waste materials as required.
- Follow all GMP, SOP, safety, and company policies while maintaining a safe work environment.
Education:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three years of laboratory experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline.
Experience Required:
- Experience with analytical instrumentation, including microscopic analysis and biological assays.
- Knowledge and application of aseptic technique and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Proven analytical aptitude and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment with regulated procedures and documentation requirements.
- Preferred
- Experience with SAP.
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) for Environmental Monitoring (EM).
Additional Information:
- Work environment includes both indoor and outdoor conditions, with exposure to varying temperatures, coolers, and freezers.
- Position requires extended periods of standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required and may include safety glasses, safety shoes, LN gear, face shields, aprons, and gloves.
- A rabies titer and vaccination will be required post-offer and will be administered onsite after assignment begins.
- Requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards in a regulated laboratory environment.
