Job description

Roadtex Transportation has become a leader in the nationwide LTL industry, specializing in transporting time and temperature-sensitive products. We handle refrigerated and LTL needs by leveraging no sailing schedules, our nationwide network of 32 strategically placed temperature-controlled facilities, our state-of-the-art tracking, and our specialized equipment and warehousing capabilities. In 2022, Roadtex was acquired by Echo Global Logistics. The acquisition brings a truckload brokerage and expanded transportation management solutions to Roadtex's customers while providing Echo with our national warehouse footprint and advanced temperature-controlled transportation solutions.
Position Overview
The Operations Manager is directly responsible for managing the day-to-day special services operations and provides oversight into the operational resources assigned to the VAS team, including the Operations Leaders. The role is responsible for the leadership of frontline leaders in direct execution of co-packing instructions (e.g., batch production record, SOP's, etc.) in order to safely and compliantly complete work required. The role serves as the key integrator of the cross-functional team to drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement in pursuit of Operational Excellence. The Operations Manager provides leadership, acts as a key integrator, has accountability, for all roles of the department, and ensures that appropriate staffing is in place. The role will ensure equipment is maintained in a state of compliance and processes in a validated state for their respective area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Build and promote a strong Safety and Quality culture. Maintain a safe working environment and conduct production activities in a manner that protects safety, environment and quality.
    • Participate in the creation, approval and execution of the production plan for the assigned area.
    • Ensure consistency of operations across shifts through active engagement on the production floor.
    • Support and provide leadership to the area through site inspections.
    • Own the implementation of the change and improvement process for the operation.
    • Set objectives for the Teams and owning and reviewing their production goals.
    • Set objectives and development plans for Operations staff, including Operations Leaders and Operators.
    • Manage events as required, ensuring appropriate communication within the team and with external teams. Provide input and corrective action for any quality incidents.
    • Build and develop a team, creating clear common purpose and promoting good team spirit.
    • Ensure that team members are appropriately trained, and that operating procedures and training material are available and current.
    • Communicate appropriately with team members regarding site objectives and team business.
    • Ensure the team is adequately resourced to meet the business objectives including sourcing all materials needed, coordinating any repairs of any equipment needed, and maintaining PMI schedules for all equipment on site.
    • Ensure the department operates within the budget and continual lean objectives are being assessed.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 plus years of warehouse services
  • 3+ years leading a team
  • Proven track recording leading a team
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and attention to detail
  • Proven track recording in developing and implementing workflow process' to successfully meet the needs of the business
  • Ability to analyze data to identify areas of opportunity
