Position Summary

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the warehouse team and ensuring merchandise is received, stored, picked, packed, and shipped accurately and efficiently.

This role serves as the primary floor leader for warehouse associates, coordinating workflow, assigning work, maintaining safety and inventory standards, and escalating operational issues to the Operations Manager. The Warehouse Foreman helps ensure the warehouse is organized, productive, and prepared to support the museum's retail and e-commerce operations.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Warehouse Operations

  • Direct and coordinate daily work assignments for warehouse associates based on volume, priorities, and shipping deadlines.
  • Oversee receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, staging, loading, and shipping activities.
  • Monitor workflow throughout the day and adjust staffing and priorities as business needs change.
  • Ensure orders and transfers are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for day-to-day warehouse operational issues.

Team Leadership and Training

  • Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and support to warehouse associates.
  • Train team members on warehouse procedures, equipment, scanning processes, and safety practices.
  • Reinforce productivity, quality, attendance, and workplace expectations established by the Operations Manager.
  • Communicate performance concerns and staffing needs to the Operations Manager.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, and pride in execution.

Inventory Control and Accuracy

  • Ensure merchandise is labeled, stored, and located correctly within the warehouse.
  • Monitor picking and receiving accuracy and investigate discrepancies.
  • Perform and coordinate cycle counts and assist with physical inventory activities.
  • Help prevent shrink, damage, and loss through proper handling and storage practices.
  • Communicate inventory discrepancies or damaged merchandise to the appropriate manager.

Safety and Facility Standards

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
  • Enforce company safety policies and procedures and immediately address unsafe practices.
  • Ensure warehouse equipment is used properly and only by trained or certified employees.
  • Report equipment, facility, or maintenance issues to the Operations Manager.
  • Assist with incident reporting and follow established safety procedures.

Systems and Process Execution

  • Ensure associates accurately use warehouse systems, scanners, and related tools.
  • Follow established SOPs and identify opportunities to improve workflow and efficiency.
  • Monitor daily productivity and quality standards and communicate results to the Operations Manager.
  • Assist with peak periods, new product launches, promotional activity, and other special projects.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Coordinate with retail, e-commerce, events, and other operations teams to support fulfillment priorities.
  • Communicate shipping deadlines, inventory issues, and operational constraints promptly.
  • Support a seamless flow of merchandise between the warehouse, retail operations, and e-commerce fulfillment.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of warehouse, logistics, distribution, or retail fulfillment experience.
  • Previous experience leading or directing warehouse employees preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume warehouse environment.
  • Basic computer and inventory-system skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with team members.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Preferred

  • Forklift or high-reach certification.
  • Experience with WMS, POS, scanning, or e-commerce fulfillment systems.
  • Experience supporting retail or multi-channel fulfillment operations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to consistently lift 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and moving merchandise.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures depending on warehouse conditions.
