MLB Players Trust Internship

In 1996, Major Leaguers created the Major League Baseball Players Trust as a vehicle to channel their collective voices to raise awareness and provide funds for important causes around the world. In the last 25 years, Major League Players have increased the scope to support causes important to them and has supported a wide range of organizations and programs granting tens of millions of dollars.

The Players Trust is the charitable arm of the Major League Baseball Players Association, empowering Players to use their individual and collective platforms to support causes and communities that matter to them. Through charitable giving, community engagement, and player-inspired programming, the Trust helps Players create meaningful impact in the United States and around the world. Its work includes supporting Players’ personal philanthropic priorities and developing initiatives focused on youth education, mentorship, baseball and softball participation, and skills development.

Position Overview:

The Players Trust Intern will gain valuable insight into the management of a non-profit organization that is uniquely associated with a union that represents the Major League and Minor League Players employed by the 30 Major League baseball teams. The intern will assist in various administrative activities at the Players Trust, gaining valuable insight into the management of a non-profit organization. The intern will support the Players Trust team on various activities relating to programming, community engagement, Player research, marketing and data entry and reporting. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to accompany Players Trust staff in select meetings across the MLB Players Association.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide administrative support for the Players Trust’s Double Play Matching Gifts program during the Season of Giving.
  • Collaborate closely with Players Trust staff to prepare PowerPoint presentations, supporting materials, and other resources for meetings.
  • Conduct research and prepare briefing materials on Players, nonprofit organizations, corporate prospects, and emerging trends in philanthropy.
  • Enter, update, and maintain accurate records in the Players Trust’s CRM, its primary database.
  • Compile and analyze data related to the Trust’s philanthropic programs and initiatives.
  • Develop clear, data-driven reports to evaluate program effectiveness, improve processes, and track progress toward organizational goals.
  • Record and distribute notes and meeting minutes for select internal meetings.
  • Support the development of internal and external communications, including newsletters, social media content, and other written materials.
  • Monitor and manage merchandise, supplies, and inventory.
  • Perform day-to-day administrative responsibilities and other duties as assigned by Players Trust staff.


Qualifications:

  • Current graduate student or recent college graduate.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter who can work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent organizational, research, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and clearly communicate key findings and outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Prior experience in the nonprofit sector preferred.


Reports to: Coordinator of Programs

Location: In-Office (3 Days)

Salary: MBA Recent Graduates or Students: $ 30.00 per hour. Recent College Graduates $20.00 per hour

Internship Length: 3 months
