Job description

Driver and Logistics Associate

The Driver and Logistics Associate supports Oliver Gospel's mission by being responsible for safely and effectively driving and operating Oliver Gospel donation vehicles. This position will handle the day-to-day logistics of inspecting, communicating and picking up donations from the public while also coordinating with the Hope Center and Thrift Store to transport donations to and from multiple sites.

Ability and desire to work in harmony with other Oliver Gospel employees

Be on time and ready to work at the assigned work location on every scheduled day of work

Due to sensitivity for potential impact upon Oliver Gospel's Program Participants, the use of tobacco and/or vaping products is not permitted during scheduled work hours or at any Oliver Gospel event

Valid South Carolina driver's license and must be able to pass an MVR background check

High School diploma or equivalent experience in a related field

Strong communication and relational skills

Proven customer service experience and skills

Excellent driving record

Experience in successfully driving, loading, securing and unloading items in a box-style moving truck

Position Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for receiving, approving and scheduling donation pickups with the public using the software provided
  2. Responsible for coordinating with the Program and Facility Managers to coordinate mission pickups and deliveries
  3. Communicate effectively with the Thrift Store manager, processing team and donors to exchange information regarding pick up schedules, routes and donation details
  4. Responsible for capturing donor information into Thrifttrac to ensure donor information is correct and updated
  5. Recording and maintaining a pickup log of all donations and deliveries
  6. Navigate routes using GPS systems adjusting plans as necessary due to traffic, weather conditions or road closures to ensure the most efficient trip
  7. Transporting, unloading and delivering items in a safe and secure manner to prevent damage, spoilage or loss
  8. Follow best practices and store policies on truck safety both on the road and during loading/unloading
  9. Provide excellent customer service to all donors and partners, sharing the mission of Oliver Gospel and the impact of their partnership
  10. Provide Training to the OG Works participants according to the OG Works program in driving and logistics.
  11. Preparing, operating and inspecting vehicles associated with pickup and delivery
  12. Communicate effectively with the Thrift Store manager, processing team and donors to exchange information regarding pick up schedules, routes and donation details
  13. Navigate routes using GPS systems adjusting plans as necessary due to traffic, weather conditions or road closures to ensure the most efficient trip
  14. Assist in processing, opening / closing procedures and store cleanliness
  15. Attend meetings and events as determined by the supervisor
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
