Luna La Mer

Full-time

Job description

Luna La Mer is looking for a talented, motivated Pastry Chef to join our growing café and catering team.

Our café serves a rotating selection of house-made pastries, baked goods and focaccia alongside our savory daytime menu. We also operate a busy catering and events business, creating everything from breakfast pastries and dessert bites to elevated custom menus for private and corporate events.

The Role

As our Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for daily baking and pastry production for the café while working with our culinary team to develop and expand the program.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Daily production of house-made focaccia, including mixing, proofing, baking and maintaining consistency across batches

  • Preparing pastries, cakes, cookies, muffins, loaf cakes, tarts, bars and other rotating café offerings

  • Producing pastry and dessert items for our catering and events program

  • Developing seasonal pastries, specials and new menu items

  • Scaling recipes and production for both daily café service and larger catering orders

  • Maintaining consistent quality, presentation and portioning

  • Managing pastry prep, production lists and pars

  • Monitoring pastry ingredients and communicating ordering needs

  • Maintaining an organized, clean and efficient pastry workspace

  • Working closely with our chefs and owners on menu development and new ideas

  • Following food safety and allergen protocols, including careful prevention of cross-contact

Schedule

Early-morning availability is essential. This is a true baking and production role, and shifts will begin early enough to have focaccia, pastries and baked goods ready for café service.

Weekend availability is also required.

Gluten-Free Baking

A large portion of Luna La Mer's menu is gluten-free. Experience with gluten-free pastry and baking is a major plus, but we are also open to an experienced pastry chef who is excited to learn. Strong knowledge of allergens, food safety and preventing cross-contact is essential.

Competitive compensation + tips, with opportunities for growth and increased creative and leadership responsibility.
