Job description

SUMMARY 

Mortenson is seeking a MEP Project Manager to lead and direct MEP-dominant projects or MEP scopes on medium to large projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and safety, while mentoring the project team and enhancing customer relationships through excellent service. 

This position offers opportunities at both levels 1 and 2, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this role is determined based on factors such as experience and location.  

Accepted Locations: Cedar Rapids, IA; Omaha, NE; Lincoln, NE

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage overall financial health of projects 

  • Develop and maintain project financial and equipment projections 

  • Allocate project estimate into financial system, determine cost codes, approve invoices, manage budget 

  • Provide financials and billings to Accounting for timely payment, create monthly owner billings 

  • Oversee budget and select trade partners and suppliers, handle billings and contract management 

  • Oversee 3-D coordination process to resolve conflicts before installation 

  • Direct and manage commissioning process, including start-up plan, COT, schedule, and functional testing 

  • Lead project closeout activities, including operations and maintenance manuals, model turnover, and training 

  • Manage Assistant Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s), provide job assignments, career development, and feedback 

  • Function as main contact with owner and on-site representative, resolve site concerns, build positive relationships 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent field experience 

  • Current driver's license 

  • Ability to manage development to closeout responsibilities for complex projects 

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project tasks 

  • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices 

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, project, and relevant web applications 

  • Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service skills 

  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies 

  • Active listening and effective communication skills, open to diverse input and feedback 

  • Ability to travel up to 100%

MEP Project Manager I 

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum six years of construction management experience, preferably with a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor 

  • The base pay range for this role is $113,500 Min - $170,300 Max 

MEP Project Manager II 

  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum seven years construction management experience, preferably experience with a Mechanical or Electrical Contractor 

  • The base pay range for this role is $132,100 Min - $198,200 Max 

(Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). 

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
